Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-07-07
Parallax & Ponder is an independent educational project focused on advanced English vocabulary. The site currently offers a free 30-day vocabulary challenge.
The current site has no user accounts, paid plans, payment processing, or advertising, and we do not sell personal information.
This Privacy Policy explains what information is stored in your browser, what is processed when you visit the site or send feedback, how that information is used, and the choices available to you. The Terms of Service also apply when you use the site.
1. Information stored in your browser
The site uses browser storage to remember parts of the lesson experience, including:
- audio playback position;
- quiz progress and results;
- crossword entries and history;
- lesson and practice preferences;
- lesson archive sorting.
A small functional cookie is also used to keep the archive sort order consistent when pages load.
This information stays in your browser. It is not connected to an account and is not synchronized across browsers or devices. Clearing browser data may remove it.
Quiz answers, crossword entries, and other lesson responses are not sent to an AI provider.
2. Information you choose to send
The feedback form may collect a rating, a message, an optional email address when you request a reply, and basic context such as the page from which the message was sent.
We use this information to read and respond to feedback, investigate corrections, improve the project, and protect the site from misuse. An email address is used only to reply to you, not for marketing.
Automated security checks may process ordinary technical information to help detect spam, bots, or abuse before a message is delivered.
Please do not send confidential or sensitive information through the feedback form.
3. Analytics and technical information
The site's own analytics are cookie-free and are used in aggregate to understand which pages are visited and how the site performs.
Like most websites, the systems used to host, deliver, diagnose, and protect the site may process ordinary technical information, including:
- IP address and request information;
- browser, device, and operating-system information;
- pages visited and referring pages;
- approximate location derived from network information;
- dates and times;
- performance information, errors, and security signals.
This information is used to deliver the site, understand general usage, measure performance, fix problems, prevent abuse, and protect the site.
We do not use this information to track you across unrelated websites or build advertising profiles.
4. YouTube and external websites
Lessons include embedded YouTube videos. When a video loads or plays, YouTube may receive technical information and may use cookies under its own privacy practices.
The site also links to dictionaries and other external websites. Once you follow a link, that website's own terms and privacy practices apply.
5. How information is shared
We do not sell personal information or use it for behavioral advertising.
Information may be processed by service providers that help host, secure, measure, and deliver the site or deliver feedback messages. They may process information needed to perform those functions under their own privacy practices and agreements.
Information may also be disclosed when required by law or when reasonably necessary to investigate fraud, abuse, security problems, or threats to rights and safety.
6. Retention and your choices
Information stored in your browser remains there until it is overwritten, cleared by you, or removed by the browser. Because this information is not linked to an account, we generally cannot identify or remove it for you.
Feedback messages may be kept as long as reasonably needed to reply, investigate corrections, maintain basic records, and protect the site. Technical logs and aggregate analytics may be retained according to operational and security needs and service-provider settings.
You can:
- leave the email field blank if you do not want a reply;
- clear browser data to remove locally stored lesson information;
- use browser settings to control cookies and embedded content;
- contact us to ask about or request deletion of information you submitted directly.
7. Children and security
The site is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. If you are under 13, please use the site with a parent or guardian and do not submit personal information through the feedback form.
We use reasonable measures to protect the site and information submitted through it, but no website or internet transmission can be guaranteed completely secure.
8. Changes and contact
This policy may change as the project and its tools change. The date at the top will be updated when revisions are made.
Questions, privacy requests, or concerns can be sent to support@parallaxandponder.online.
